1 in 15 pot arrests in Chicago is a white man.
Most pot busts in Chicago - 78 percent of them - are black men. The average street value of a pot bust is $55. Why the discrepancy? Some say it’s a racist system.

Brian Haw, an angry, sad, complicated and passionate activist
Brian Haw lived in a tent city outside Parliament for close to a decade. He was dirty, foul-mouthed, angry, sad and lonely. He mourned for children killed in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. He thought Tony Blair and George W. Bush were war criminals. His wife divorced him. He had dirty fingernails and a floppy hat that was no longer floppy because dirt and sweat had created a supporting crust of sorts. He sang songs to the memory of children. He was an advocate for free speech and peace. He was one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. I interviewed him on a cold February day in 2008. We talked for a long time, and my hands were numb from holding a camera in the cold for so long.He died last month.

Tazer’s goal in Game 7 tied the game with less than two minutes to go. It was glorious. Time to get to work, boys!

Another win for belts
Belts have been battling hard since, say, the late 80s. I know I had an aversion to them as a rebellious teen. But, I discovered I liked having the use of two hands, so I got a belt (mostly likely braided) sometime in my youth. A lesson we could all use.
On Wednesday, San Francisco police got a call about 9 a.m. that someone was exposing himself outside a US Airways gate, Sgt. Michael Rodriguez said.
An airline employee spotted Marman before he boarded Flight 488, bound for Albuquerque, and complained that Marman’s pants “were below his buttocks but above the knees, and that much of his boxer shorts were exposed,” Rodriguez said.
The employee asked Marman to pull up his pants before he boarded the plane, but he refused, Rodriguez said. Marman allegedly repeated his refusal after taking his seat on the plane.
“At that point he was asked to leave the plane,” Rodriguez said. “It took 15 to 20 minutes of talking to get him to leave the plane, and he was arrested for trespassing.” Marman allegedly resisted officers as he was being led away.

Glee
But as Luongo sat on the bench Monday night, the fans kept chanting his name – in the second period, in the third. The organist played “Chelsea Dagger,” the song the Blackhawks use to celebrate goals, Luongo’s own personal laugh track. They smelled it, and they still smell it.
